Bob Wise – Instructor

Bob Wise serves as one of our instructors at CVC, his specialty is gas instruction and is well know in the hearth and chimney industries for his expertise in this subject matter. Bob has been involved with the training of gas technicians for over thirty years.  His training experience began while employed by Southern California Gas Co. where he helped train plumbers, HVAC contractors, fire departments and home inspectors on the basic principles of gas fired appliances, along with the fundamental characteristics of natural gas, combustion, venting and safety procedures for the safe handling of gases.  
Upon leaving SoCalGas, Bob was employed by Fireplace Manufacturers Inc. (FMI) where he was the National Training Director and Technical Services Manager.  After FMI was purchased by DESA Bob was asked to assume the role as gas appliances training director as well as regional sales representative for the East Coast.  

Robert eventually left DESA to become the National Training Director for a major national fireplace distributor at their national training center in South Carolina.  In this role, he provided over 1400 individuals with training on both wood and gas hearth equipment.  This week long, hands-on training included he wrote the curriculum for included installing both wood and gas stoves and fireplaces in mock-up situations with varying roof pitch scenarios and venting and termination configurations

In 2005 Bob opened his own company as a retailer and installer of hearth products in the upstate of South Carolina and while operating this business once again became involved with the training for two major fireplace manufacturers (FMI and Monessen).  

Bob taught classes at every HPBA EXPO since 1999.  These classes include NFI Wood and Gas Review, Advantages of Gas Hearth Appliances and the Advantages of Burning Wood Stoves. He has also presented numerous trainings for regional groups and in private training sessions with CVC Clients.

Bob served two terms on the Hearth Education Board of Governors, including four years as president.  While acting as president, the National Fireplace Institute (NFI) was founded and organized.  Under his leadership NFI developed the first national certifications in various disciplines, gaining national recognition as a legitimate certification program for pellet, wood burning and gas hearth appliances.  In 2006, he was given the Outstanding Leadership Award by the HEF.

Since becoming affiliated with 2015 with CVC Success Group as an instructor for gas hearth equipment, both in the classroom and the field, Bob has conducted numerous gas training varying from a 1-day to 5-day courses.  Through CVC Success Group Bob offers custom-tailored gas training programs to address the needs of individual businesses. Hos courses are taught both in-person on location and through the CVC Virtual Academy Training Courses.
